Bio – Kelly Lappin, Creative Principal

Although my career path led me into graphic design, my passion began with a pencil and paper. Whether it was a talent discovered at an early age, or simply the love and appreciation for a fresh canvas and sketchbook, I quickly learned that translating this creativity into a marketable tool gave me the ability to visually communicate important messages to the world.

Graduating from the State University of New York College at Fredonia earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design with a minor in dance, I spent a semester abroad in London where I gained a new appreciation for the conceptual aspect of design.

Witnessing the way other cultures communicate, and spending as much time traveling as possible was a very influential moment in training to see first-hand how a well designed graphic will speak to anyone — whether you understand the native language or not.

Having been involved in dance and art throughout my entire life, the stimulating city of New York was always meant for me. Carrying along with me my home-town values from Buffalo, New York, and diving into the intense Big Apple, I worked at a few smaller-scaled agencies where I quickly learned how to wear all hats of the industry. I was fortunate to have the guidance to learn from experienced designers, the exposure of working with larger well known brands and organizations, and the motivation to take on side jobs in my spare time as a way to constantly test my creativity. I am thrilled to have now found myself acting on that independence and taking the next step of building GreenBird Design Inc.
